ASMC
Washington Chapter Elections,
In accordance with Article V of the ASMC
Washington Chapter Constitution elections will be conducted at the
end of the Chapter's April luncheon on April 21, 2010. Nominations
for the open positions have been gathered and write-in votes are
allowed.
The Chapter membership will elect Service Vice Presidents for the
2010-2011 two year term of office. Elected VPs, act
as the primary communication link between the Chapter and Washington
Chapter members in their Component/Organization, assist with Chapter
luncheons and events, and participate in general Chapter management. A complete description of VP duties is

Captain Thomas Jones graduated from the University of Maryland in December
1983 and immediately reported to Officer Candidate School in Yorktown, Virginia.
He later earned a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the
University of Illinois, a Master of Public Administration Degree from Old
Dominion University and recently a Master of Arts Degree in National Security
and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
Following
graduation from OCS in May of 1984, Captain Jones
served on the Fifth Coast Guard
District Civil Engineering staff, and then Coast Guard Cutters TANEY and INGHAM.
Following his sea tours, Captain Jones served as the Greater Antilles Section
Civil Engineer and Industrial Manager. Later he attended the University of
Illinois and served as a project manager at the Facilities Design and
Construction Center, Atlantic and Facilities Engineering Officer at Integrated
Support Command Portsmouth. Captain Jones served for three years as a Program
Reviewer and the Acquisition, Construction and Improvements (AC&I) Budget
Coordinator in the Coast Guard Chief of Staff’s office. Following command
of Civil Engineering Unit Providence and the Naval War College, CAPT Jones
served as Commanding Officer of the Coast Guard Research & Development Center.
He currently serves as the Chief, Office of Budget and Programs at Coast Guard
Headquarters.
Commander
Tom Harker has served for more than 18 years on active duty in the Coast
Guard, in a mixture of operational and financial management tours. He currently
serves as the deputy for the office of financial transformation and compliance,
the office that leads the internal control and audit readiness effort for the
Coast Guard. Commander Harker received a Masters of Business Administration
from the University of Miami, is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in
Virginia, and obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of
California, Berkeley. Prior tours of duty include Comptroller at Integrated
Support Command San Pedro, business manager for the buoy tender replacement
project, operations officer USCGC VALIANT, Seventh Coast Guard district law
enforcement staff, District Seven Tactical Law Enforcement Team and deck watch
officer on USCGC DAUNTLESS.
