Mark E. Easton
Deputy Chief
Financial Officer Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller)
Mr. Easton previously served as Director,
Financial Operations, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Financial
Management and Comptroller (FM&C) . In this
position, he is responsible for Department of the Navy financial improvement
initiatives that involve systems and processes employed by the 9,000
Navy-Marine Corps financial managers. He was appointed as a member of the
Senior Executive Service in January 2003, serving initially as Director, Defense
Finance and Accounting Service Cleveland operations and the Senior Navy Client
Executive for DFAS.
He retired as a Captain from active duty
in September 2002, following a 29-year career in the Navy Supply Corps. While
on active duty in the Navy, Mr. Easton served in assignments both afloat and
ashore. In his command tour as Director DFAS Pacific in Pearl Harbor, Mr.
Easton provided support for all four military services from locations in the
Hawaiian Islands and Japan. Prior to this assignment he served as the Executive
Assistant and Naval Aide to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Financial
Management and Comptroller.
His shipboard tours included service as
Supply Officer of the battleship USS New Jersey. Ashore, he served in a variety
of other logistics and financial management positions. While at Defense
Logistics Agency (DLA) Headquarters in Washington, DC, he was Director,
Readiness Support, and headed up DLA’s Operational
Logistics Support of Hurricane Andrew disaster relief and of humanitarian missions
to Somalia, Bosnia, and Haiti. He also served as Planning Department Director
at Navy Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg, Pa
A native of Kansas City, Mo., he received
his naval officer’s commission through the NROTC program at Miami University (Ohio). He holds a Master of Business
Administration from the University of Michigan and has completed the Executive
Development Program at the University of Northwestern Kellogg
Graduate School of Business. He is also a graduate of the National Defense
University’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Mr. Easton has also earned
designation as a Certified Defense Financial Manager.
Mr. Easton has received various personal
military awards, including the Defense Superior Service Medal and the Legion of
Merit with gold star. He also received the Department of the Navy Superior
Civilian Service Award in 2006.
