Accelerating towards fiscal readiness!
National Capital Regional Mini-PDI, Thursday March 9, 2006
Thank you to our 2006 Corporate Sponsors!
The Department of Defense has two primary mission objectives: to defend the United States and its people; and to accelerate a bold transformation of the U.S. Military to counter 21st century threats. Towards these objectives, the transformation extends across not only warfighting operations/organizations but also current business operations within and beyond the department.
DoD's Business Management Modernization Program (BMMP) is the primary enterprise-wide initiative to transform to a more streamlined, integrated business environment that is information-driven, standards-based, interoperable, cost-effective, auditable, and concurrently responsive to uniform needs and management decision-making. Critical OSD Comptroller initiatives, such as the department's Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness Plan (FIAR), are integrated with BMMP to optimize modernizations efforts and final outcomes.
Moving forward, financial and resource managers will be strategic partners recognized as the ultimate source for accurate financial information, and provide high quality, customer focused decision support and financial services. This will enable the DoD to achieve true JOINTNESS in business operations; ultimately, this aggressive and complex undertaking will ensure better decision-making for the benefit of the warfighter and fiscal accountability for the Congress and American taxpayers.
Our 2006 Mini-PDI was a unique partnership across six ASMC Washington metropolitan area chapters - to enhance our dialogue, networking, and fund-raising results for charities and scholarships. This year's
Mini-PDI was structured to focus on how, as a vibrant community of government and industry professionals, we can help the Department rapidly achieve its critical goals of business modernization and fiscal readiness. YOU are an integral contributor to this endeavor!
